WHAT DOES RETIREMENT LOOK LIKE AFTER YOUR BASEBALL CAREER?
Thanks to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, you have to play on a major league roster for only 43 days to be eligible for your retirement pension. Payments begin at $34,000 per year, after you reach 45. If you wait until the age of 65, you’re eligible for the maximum of $170,000 per year, assuming you’ve played for 10 years or more in the big league. While this is a great help, it may not match your dreams.
If you take a look at the chart below, you’ll see that with the right planning and experienced help, your income can continue to grow, long after your baseball career has ended.
