Plan ahead. If we could simply get people to think about all this sooner, to plan for it even a little bit, we could ease the strains enormously.

An award-winning author, Virginia Morris has devoted more than 25 years to researching and writing about health care, medical research, and related social and political issues.

As a subject matter expert for Genworth Financial’s "Let's Talk" campaign, author of the best-selling book, How to Care for Aging Parents, and an official member of the sandwich generation, Ms. Morris is distinctively qualified to help guide financial professionals and clients alike in broaching the topic of long term care planning. Her  approach is both productive for planning and respectful of the unique relationships among loved ones and friends of varying generations.

In her collaboration with Genworth on "Let's Talk" Ms. Morris sets an optimistic yet realistic tone as she guides us through the morass of emotions and practical information that needs to be addressed regarding a potentially sensitive conversation.

In addition to her writing career, Ms. Morris frequently conducts presentations to both consumer and business audiences, and appears on network television (The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC News Today, CBS News: The Early Show, CNN, Good Morning America) as an expert on the subject. She also has appeared before Congress, testifying before the bicameral Joint Economic Committee in 2007 on the topic of Elder Care Challenges and Solutions, with her primary message being, "Plan ahead. If we could simply get people to think about all this sooner, to plan for it even a little bit, we could ease the strains enormously."

The goal of Genworth's "Let's Talk" initiative is to help further this important message.
