The Genworth Foundation is committed to improving the world around us by investing in organizations that are making a difference in communities where we live and work. We make direct investments in the community through charitable grants and matching gifts each year.
What we fund
The Genworth Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations around the globe to help enrich the lives of our neighbors, support bold ideas and make a long-term impact. We focus on three key areas:
- Education: Young people are the promise of the future, and the Genworth Foundation has a focused committment to strengthen student performance, build life skills for underserved youth, and improve students' financial literacy.
- Supporting Seniors: As the 65 and older population increases, we are helping prepare local communities for the growing age wave. We fund programs that provide access to information on health and aging, offer support for family caregivers, and enable independent living.
- Basic Needs: We partner with local and global organizations to support the delivery of temporary food, shelter and clothing. We also invest in key partnerships to keep families in their homes and help prevent foreclosures during times of economic distress.

How we fund
The Genworth Foundation provides grant opportunities in two basic categories: program support and capacity building grants. Program support funding is designed to support the activities of an organization to help it achieve its stated mission and objectives. Capacity building grants offer the opportunity for organizations to build infrastructure and address important issues of organizational development and effectiveness.
Due to the large volume of requests for support and limited resources, funding is by invitation only.
