Sponsorship Criteria and Eligibility

Genworth is dedicated to investing in organizations that are helping to strengthen the communities where we live and work. Before you apply, please carefully review the following sponsorship criteria and eligibility requirements to ensure your sponsorship request aligns with our goals and objectives. Throughout this process, we hope to make the best use of your limited time and resources.

General Criteria for Evaluation

General criteria for evaluation include, but are not limited to:

  • Organization history, leadership, and reputation
  • Alignment with a Genworth area of focus
  • Ability to reach a broad audience and make a lasting impact in the community
  • Opportunities for Genworth employee engagement
  • Increases Genworth’s visibility in the community

Geographic Area for Consideration

Our sponsorship investments are primarily directed to the following areas, given our employee bases in those locations.

  • Richmond, VA (including Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover counties)
  • Lynchburg, VA (including Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell counties)
  • Raleigh, NC (including Wake and Durham counties)
  • Stamford, CT
  • Waltham, MA

Specific Focus Area Criteria

Genworth provides sponsorships to organizations that are building vibrant communities, addressing key social issues, and promoting collaboration and partnership. Our focus areas include:

  • Affordable Housing and Homelessness
  • Arts and Culture
  • Economic Development
  • Education
  • Healthy Aging and Caregiver Support
  • Workforce Development

Additional Eligibility Requirements

In most cases, applicants must be a non-profit, charitable organization tax-exempt under section 501(c)3 of the US Internal Revenue Code. All applicants must comply with the USA Patriot Act and may not discriminate on the basis of a person’s race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status or other characteristic protected by law.

Sponsorships will not be made to:

  • Political, labor, fraternal/social organizations or civic clubs
  • Religious organizations for sectarian or evangelic purposes
  • Third parties seeking donations on behalf of non-profit organizations
  • Sports, athletic, recreational or little leagues
  • Grant to individuals
  • Advertising activities
  • Development or production of books, films, videos, radio or TV programs
  • Private foundations (corporate or family)
  • Endowments or memorials
